Last time I checked, scrap yards gave something around 40 cents for a pound of scrap aluminum. He won't get much for it.
I doubt you'll easily melt aluminum by heating it with a torch. Have you ever tried to weld aluminum with an oxy-acetylene torch? You'd think that since its melting point is low it would melt a lot easier than steel. But it doesn't. Steel heats up nicely in one spot and then melts pretty easily. With aluminum, you're holding the torch on it and the damn piece won't melt. Soon the whole piece is hot as hell and it's not even close to melting. It conducts heat too well.
